I accepted the opportunity to purchase this business from Andy Hoffman in September of 2020. I know that Andy did great work, and I look forward to the privilege of continuing his legacy while continuing to fulfill my duties as Holt County Attorney.

Nearly fifteen years ago, I met Andy Hoffman for the first time. He had the final word on whether or not I would be hired as a law clerk at his firm. At his request, the job interview happened in the fishing section of Scheels outdoor store in Omaha. Thankfully, I got the job, and enjoyed working with Andy more than I could have imagined.

Since that time, I graduated with honors from law school. I finished number one in my class in contracts, number one in my class in negotiations, and number one in my class in arbitration. After passing the bar exam, I entered private practice for six years. In that time, I worked on criminal and civil litigation, as well as family law, elder law, and agricultural law. After private practice, and for the last five years, I’ve served as the County Attorney for Holt County.

In the capacity of Holt County Attorney, I’ve personally handled over one thousand eight hundred misdemeanor and felony cases, ranging from DUI to second degree murder, and had the opportunity to try cases in front the County Court, District Court, and up to the Supreme Court of Nebraska. I’ve served as a special prosecutor in Antelope, Knox, Rock, Brown, and Cherry Counties, and am currently serving as the appointed County Attorney for Boyd County. I’ve also personally reviewed every inheritance tax return filed in Holt County for the last five years.

In my personal life, I married the love of my life, Malerie Gokie at St. Joseph’s Church in Atkinson in 2013. We, with our two children, live between Atkinson and O’Neill in rural Holt County.
