Cyberstalking and Domestic Abuse

From time to time in my career, I have been appointed by a Court to act as a “Special Prosecutor” or “Special County Attorney”. In 2018, I was appointed by a Judge to investigate and prosecute Frank D. Patterson, of Valentine, Nebraska. Dr. Frank Patterson, D.D.S., was and is a successful dentist, who owns and operates Valentine Dental Clinic in Valentine, Nebraska.

The evidence of the investigation showed probable cause that Dr. Frank Patterson, D.D.S., committed several crimes, including strangulation, domestic assault, obstructing a peace officer, false reporting, and criminal mischief. Following a preliminary hearing, a Judge ruled that there was probable cause to support those charges.

Dr. Patterson was able to hire several lawyers and mounted a very competent defense. Ultimately, on the morning of the scheduled jury trial, the case settled. Dr. Patterson plead “no contest” and was found guilty of two counts in an amended information. This was done with the consent of the victim, who had her own reasons (which I respect) for not wanting a felony trial.

As far as I’m concerned, the case was closed. At this point in my career, I’ve successfully handled literally thousands of criminal cases. While I’m proud of that fact, I don’t mention it to brag. I mention it to illustrate the point that I don’t have room in my heart, or my head, or my schedule, to hold grudges against criminals I’ve prosecuted.

Not having thought about Dr. Frank Patterson for some time, I was surprised to see that in 2023, 5 years after I convicted him, he engaged in a cyber stalking or cyber bullying campaign against me.

In February of 2024, I noticed a negative google review for my law firm left by Dr. Patterson a few months before. Dr. Patterson has never been a client of mine, and should not be entitled to leave a public review of my services. Unfortunately, the rules of the internet and of google, do not prevent Dr. Patterson from leaving me or my firm a false and misleading review.

However, what I believe Dr. Frank Patterson, D.D.S. may have overlooked, is that the same rules that allow him to lie about me, allow me to tell the truth about him. I don’t believe it would be ethical for me to post a negative review of Valentine Dental Clinic, since I’ve never been a client or customer.
